Out of the 4 outfits I shot with Niki for our style shoot, the cold really hit me hard for this one featuring the moto jacket. I was even colder than when I was on a rooftop, wearing a dress, and wearing no sleeves.
During one shot, Niki said to me gently, “I know you’re cold but try not to hunch your shoulders 🙂 Relax.”
So I did – and my favourite shot of all time is in this post.
*Favourite shot of me. I don’t know what forces came together to produce this shot but looking at this photo makes me feel like the model-est of models. I made this face? I did? Sa-weet.
I don’t normally do edgy but it’s what I think about when I think of moto jackets and mildly scary looking booties. I first noticed the edge behind a moto jacket when I tried to wear it to work and felt really uncomfortable about it. Now you’re likely to never see me wear this outside of a night out downtown.
Because the jacket has such a bite to it with its style, I’m really glad it’s white to help tone it down. I paired it with this sultry top from Banana Republic for a contrast in colours and finished it off with this jacquard pant for some visual interest.
These booties were the first ones I ever bought, if I remember correctly. Now that I have sleeker booties that are more my style (seen in this post and this post), I don’t wear these as often but I think they’re perfect for this outfit.
I didn’t want to overcomplicate this outfit with a bag so I decided to shoot with my phone and Starbucks Refresher as props. This Refresher is actually nothing you can order straight from the menu. It’s actually a combination of two drinks and it’s my go-to non-coffee drink at Starbucks.
Half-lime, half-berry Refresher. Light on the ice. No water. Keep the inclusions.
If you try it out, let me know. You’re welcome 😛
My Starbucks lasted me pretty much the whole shoot. I’m glad to have had it because I had a hard time sleeping the night before. I was just too busy worrying about having everything prepared for my first shoot with Niki.
I’d like to think everything went well though. I’m happy with the photos and working with Niki was better than I imagined. She’s got the bright, fabulous style I like and she really understands what’s needed in fashion and lifestyle photography. She’s a dream to work with.
Future wedding photographer? I think so. 😉
The next set of outfit posts I have coming up will feature a different photographer but – rest assured – I want to work with Niki again. Since these were shot in Windsor, I worked with a local photographer.
Something new that’s coming to the blog is a lifestyle post every week and I want to start shooting this weekend. I started thinking it was time to add a new post type to my rotation after I was asked to write about long-distance relationships. Pumped for you guys to see!
Is there anything you’d like to see on the blog? Let me know in the comments 🙂
