Every time I feel like wearing a dress, I feel like I don’t have enough of them.
Dresses are one of those, “Just slip it on and voila,” type of clothes and I’m pretty sure I have less than 10 of them. Certainly not enough for all the looks I’d ever want to go for. (Hey! I like to be prepared.)
Maybe I spent too many years prioritizing pants…
A couple months back, I went to Banana Republic to innocently check out their clothing. I’m pretty sure I ended up with 10 things in the changing room. This happens often. Don’t worry, I leave with way less 😉
This yellow tiered crepe dress (similar here) was one of the things I left with and Banana Republic had happened to have this scarf nearby and I couldn’t help but think, “How perfect would this be with this dress?” So I got that too…
You know by now that I don’t usually do colour – not unless it’s more subdued. That’s the only reason I even bought a yellow dress – because it’s mustard, a great colour for fall. I missed that boat though so now I’m wearing it in the winter with a thick merino wool turtleneck sweater from Aritzia.
This Wilfred Free Lin sweater has quickly become my favourite sweater. It IS an investment piece but well worth the price with how soft it is, IMO. With its quality, I’m betting it will last me years 🙂
And good news for you, it’s on sale for $115 rather than $165!
Even though I’m not pleased with the super cold weather (despite being Canadian and very used to it), it’s still the season where wardrobe additions tend to happen so no complaints.
In my case, a Daniel Wellington watch was one of those additions. I got the Classic Sheffield in rose gold for Christmas and I may have hinted heavily that I wanted it. And I may ALSO have hinted at it several months in advance 😛
Before the DW watch, I only had two watches – a gold and silver. But sometimes I don’t want to wear a mainly metallic watch. I thought one with a black leather strap would be a nice everyday addition and when I saw this watch I knew she was the one.
You might have noticed but I worked with a different photographer for this shoot. I want my blog to be based both in Windsor and Detroit and it was time to switch it up to the quiet #YQG.
Denisa is the wife of Marius, owner of Brewin’ Bros cafe (featured here). She is young, vibrant, and wonderfully pregnant. Not to mention talented in a moody way. Niki‘s work, on the other hand, is bright and dreamy. Working with the both of them feels like working with a girlfriend 🙂
I had a lot of fun working with Denisa. She was hyping me up like girlfriends do when you’re in the dressing room. “Girl, you gorgeous!” It was pretty funny but much appreciated.
It was a nice change to get away from the bustling city for a little bit. Even city girls need peace and quiet from time to time. Deep thoughts in the park, that kind of thing. My energy gets zapped really quickly so frequent recharging is necessary.
Coming up next is my first lifestyle post – My Current Favourite Books. Stay tuned 🙂
