I love sandwiches. Along with wonderfully unhealthy frozen TV dinners, they were a big part of my childhood – although, back in the day, there was a lot of bologna and other lunch meat involved.
I could probably go for anything slapped between two fresh pieces of bread, really. They’re quick, tasty, and perfect for on-the-go gals like me 😉
Welcome to The Carvery – a sandwich shop that is the epitome of sandwich perfection.
The menu is very simple and budget friendly 🙂
They offer a nice selection of sandwiches, soups, and salads. You can order a full or half sandwich by itself or go combo style with a half and plus two sides and drink of your choice.
*I usually opt for a half and a small soup, which is what you’re seeing here in this post.
For this post, I chose The Porchetta half sandwich and small Yam Chipotle Soup for myself. Both favourites.
The Porchetta is topped with honey dijon mustard, greens, apples, and onions. My favourite part is the mustard and I love the crunch and acidity that the apples give.
For my sister, we ordered the Pulled Pork half sandwich and small Roasted Tomato Soup w/ Sour Cream.
I had the Pulled Pork the first time I was here and, although I’m generally not a fan of pulled anything, the BBQ sauce really makes the sandwich. You just got to try it!
The Carvery is very casual and laid back. People pop in all day for takeout, while some spend time in the lively shop. There was even a group of elderly women who came in for what looked like a fun girls’ lunch!
There are tables to accommodate bigger parties but it is a first-come, first-serve establishment. Coming around opening hours is always good, in my experience. And there’s plenty of street and plaza parking.
Are you a fan of sandwich shops? What’s your favourite sandwich of all-time?
Mon-Fri from 11:00am-9:00pm and Sat-Sun from 12:00pm-7:00pm.
