Two weeks ago, I had the pleasure of sitting down with Clinique to learn about their brand, skin care, makeup, and even got insider knowledge on products that aren’t even on the market yet. With six Michigan bloggers in attendance, it was a really intimate experience. I love a good mano a mano.
Before going to this event, I didn’t really know much about Clinique. I just remember seeing their 3-step skin care line while I was growing up. It sticks out in my mind because the line was marketed as a process and it was also colour-coded. (Fun fact: I remember visuals better than text. You?)
I learned a lot and walked away convinced enough to give some of Clinique’s products a try 🙂
Up until the Clinique event, my skin care routine was super minimal – last mentioned here. I’d argue that it still is. But I have made some changes that have made a difference in the texture of my skin:
- Cleanse with GLAM GLOW Mud Cleanser.
- Exfoliate with Clinique Clarifying Lotion 2.
- Hydrate skin with Clinique Moisture Surge.
- Reduce signs of aging with Jules & Esther Vitamin C Facial Serum.
- Brighten under-eyes with Clinique Smart Custom-Repair Eye Treatment.
Steps 1 and 4 were a part of my old skin care routine. Minimal right? Like very. I actually got the mud cleanser from an Ipsy bag and loved it enough to keep using it. It’s the most refreshingly relaxing step. You put it on dry skin then lather it with wet fingers. Finish by washing it off with water.
The real game changer of my old routine is the facial serum, though. It makes my skin SO smooth after cleansing that I’ve actually had my boyfriend stroke my face because of how excited I was at the results 😛
Now here are the changes. Clinique told us that if there was anything we should walk away with it should be the Clarifying Lotion. It exfoliates your skin and is a must. In other words, it gets rid of dead skin that’s preventing your skin from reaching the pinnacle of youth and smoothness. (Cue Hallelujah chorus.)
I definitely feel a difference using the clarifying lotion. My cleanser + facial serum combo already made my skin super smooth but this extra step to get rid of dead skin makes my skin even MORE smooth! 😀
Finally, I finish off my new skin care routine with a sample of Clinique’s moisturizer and their eye treatment. I was especially interested in this eye treatment because I have dark under-eyes. Instead of using makeup to cover them up, I’d prefer to deal with it at the source. Better skin = better foundation for makeup. Plus, it reduces the amount of makeup you wear. Right up my alley. Wearing tons of makeup bugs me.
I was looking for some makeup products, though. I wanted a lip colour that would be close enough to my natural lip colour but a slightly more glam version of them. My lips 2.0. Clinique hooked this girl up 🙂
Along with their custom eye treatment, Clinique gave each blogger 3 lip products – one from each of their 3 new lines. I got 2 nude colours and 1 colour that’s a little outside of the box. I’m excited to use the Bare Pop lip colour (worn below) and the Wink Pop lip lacquer. Melon Drop Pop is the bold lip glaze I received.
At the end of the day, I couldn’t help walking away without buying some of their products. I took home the #2 Clarifying Lotion (I have an oily t-zone) as well as two lip liners and three samples (see below).
If I had to pinpoint what it was about Clinique that convinced me to try their products, it would be their approach to allergy testing. Clinique formulates first without known allergens. Then, they allergy test every product 12 times on 600 people. If even one of those 7,200 applications incites an allergic reaction, they start over. Crazy. Absolutely crazy and amazing dedication to the end-user.
If you’re looking for a way to spice up your skin care or makeup routine, give Clinique a try. If it doesn’t work for you – as things do – there’s many other reputable brands who could fit the bill 😉
Do you use any Clinique skin care or makeup products?
