Until recently, I had never considered trying hair extensions because it just felt “fake”. However, my hair is super flat. When it’s clean, straight, and long, everything just gets weighed down and the crown of my head just ends up looking super plain as a result. So, when Irresistible Me reached out to me a couple weeks ago to try their human hair clip in extensions for review, the timing couldn’t have been more perfect 🙂
Today, I’m walking you through how to choose the colour, length, and weight of your extensions from Irresistible Me, what to expect, and how I felt about them after testing them – just in case you want to try!
Thank you Irresistible Me for sending the hair extensions for review. All opinions are my own.
Choosing Your Extensions
I was anxious about choosing a colour for my extensions because my hair is a grown out balayage. It literally goes from natural black to chocolate brown to medium brown. At the recommendation of their marketer, Blair, I went with the in-between colour – chocolate brown – and hoped for the best. Irresistible Me also provides a YouTube video to help you choose your colour. You can find it here!
To determine the length of my hair extensions, I just YouTubed different lengths and watched their corresponding reviews, eyeballing my hair length to make a match. I got the 18″ extensions.
As for weight, I really wanted to go for volume rather than length so Blair recommended I get the 200g set. They do offer 100g and 140g if you don’t want hair that’s so heavy and thick 🙂
Hair Goal: Volume
Irresistible Me Package
The product came in a sleek black box with chic white writing. I liked the message that was left. My favourite part of the packaging, however, was the red ziplock bag that the extensions came in. I felt like the ziplock was useful for storage, easily fitting into small spaces with its flexible design and secure closure 🙂
Irresistible Me extensions also come with a small pouch attached to the main set of extensions. Inside this pouch is a small sample of their clip in extensions and can be used to determine a colour match prior to opening the actual set. If the sampler doesn’t match your hair colour, you can easily return the extensions – as long as you don’t open the seal on the main pouch containing the full set of hair extensions.
Shoutout to my sister, Thao, for helping me put in the extensions. She also photographed this post. Thao had never put them in before and we actually both looked up tutorial vids to figure it out. I think with practice, you would have an easier time clipping them in than we did. So don’t worry about the process!
Tip: If you have silky hair, the extensions may have a hard time clipping on. Tease each section of hair near the root and clip the extensions onto that part for better hold. Then use hairspray 😉
I was really surprised that the extensions made such a difference in hair volume at the crown of my head. My sister even exclaimed, “It actually made a difference!” while my boyfriend said, “I think you look like you have a lion’s mane.” #crying #mufasa So, if you’re looking for volume, you’ll definitely get it.
Hair Goal: Achieved
I also liked that the extensions are made of human hair so it really feels authentic. They even blended well with my grown out balayage. As long as you match the tips of your hair, I think it’ll be fine.
The downsides are that the extensions pull on my head and feel really heavy. But, to be fair, that may be mitigated by not using as many wefts and being more experienced with putting them in 👿
Personally, I’m grateful for being able to try the extensions but I probably won’t wear them again. I’m too sensitive to the sensation of wearing them. I even get a headache from having my hair in a bun all day!
I do recommend that you try them if you are able and want to. They might feel good for you, even though they didn’t for me! I know a lot of girls that like to use clip in extensions – much to the chagrin of their boyfriends who will find mounds of creepy disembodied hair in the bathroom HAHA 😀
