Happy Thursday! I started watching Merlin on Netflix while I wait for my Fall shows to premiere. I can’t wait to watch The Flash and Haikyu!! In addition to TV, I’ve also been getting ready to transition things, like the summer dress, for fall. Today, I’ve partnered with Sanuk to show you how 🙂
September is this weird time where it’s still hot enough during the day to wear a summer dress but too chilly at night to wear it without another layer. So obviously, we’ve got to add a layer. Pair a neutral dress, like this one from GUESS, with a light anorak like this one from H&M or this one from Levi’s.
I like that the material for an anorak, utility jacket, or light parka works perfect for this transition period. Plus, olive is a great colour to wear year-round 😉 In the winter, you can go with a thick olive coat, an olive jegging for the fall, and an olive blouse like I wore in this post in the spring and summer.
Alternatively, you can pair a bomber, denim or biker jacket with your dress 👿 Just tie it around your waist or wear it hanging around your shoulders during the day, then slip it on to keep warm for chilly nights.
Because I’m heading off to school soon, I’ve been looking for comfortable shoes to wear during the day. I wanted to find a pair that was a little different from my go-to black shoes. And these shoes gifted to me by Sanuk definitely fit the bill. True to Sanuk’s slogan, #NeverUncomfortable, these shoes make me feel like I’m wearing slippers outdoors. Probably because the footbed is actually made of yoga mat! 🙂
I like that the slate colour and earthy-toned laces remind me of autumn leaves. Plus, it goes great with my earthy-toned anorak and my still-summer cognac bag. This look has its feet in both seasons!
Other things I would do to transition a summer dress to fall is to add a thin black turtleneck, a dark velvet neck scarf, or an over-the-knee boot. But alas, I have none of these things. Style problems 🙁 …
Sometimes you’ll find yourself with not enough clothing as you move into a new season, like me. Remember to live within your means and that it takes time to build your wardrobe. Use what you have to the best of your ability and remember that your style will evolve. Plus, it’s okay to experiment. I’m definitely experimenting with my shoe and accessory vision lately. You should see my Pinterest!
Will you be wearing your summer dresses into Fall? How do you transition them?
