One more day until the weekend! Today, I’m actually starting my two-day stint of dog-sitting my boyfriend’s parents’ pug, Princess. I’ve never taken care of a pet before – my parents either thought they were dirty or scary – so this should be fun. But, moving onto the topic of the day: Dress Up, Chow Down’s content 😉
Before starting this blog, I did my best to set it up for success. I tried to create a blog name I could stick to, got a logo done, and prepared content so I wouldn’t falter within the first month. I wanted to minimize the amount of changes my blog would undergo even though I knew it was okay for blogs to evolve.
My blog has definitely transformed since I started. Now that there have been enough changes, I want to take this time to lay them out for you so you guys can better understand what to expect!
Or to clarify anything you guys may have felt deserved an explanation. 👿
1. Tech Team
Welcome Chloe Digital, my amazing tech team from London, England! 🙂
We’ve been working together for a little over a month and they are behind the performance and design tweaks that you may have noticed on the site. For example, image file sizes were reduced so that everything loads faster and you – my readers – don’t have to deal with annoyingly slow pages!
If you’ve stuck with me from the beginning, you’ll know that Dress Up, Chow Down started as a fashion and food blog. It made sense to marry two of my material interests: clothes and food.
Lately, I’ve been adding more lifestyle content to the blog. I’ve noticed that I can take my many opinions and turn them into valuable content for you guys. For example, this post on sleeping better and this post on mingling successfully even when you’re nervous. The cherry on top to transitioning Dress Up, Chow Down to a lifestyle blog that focuses on style, is that it fits into my blog’s mission:
“To help millennial women continually grow and pursue lives that make them happy.”
Bonus: This content is easiest for me to write 👿
3. The Life of a Foodie
You may have noticed that food content has taken a significant back seat on the blog. My love for good food, unique experiences, and pretty restaurants hasn’t gone away. It’s just that engagement statistics and Google Analytics stats suggest that my content creating efforts are better spent elsewhere 😉
If you follow the blog primarily for food content, don’t fret – it won’t be non-existent on the blog.
The only thing that’s changing is that it won’t be within the Top 3 verticals anymore. I noticed that I’m much more likely to Snapchat my food adventures than write about it. And this is primarily because I only write about the best of the best restaurants – which are few and far between.
Follow me at clearlythuydoan on Snapchat to stay on top of the restaurants I’ve been eating through 🙂
4. Dear Diary
A lot of you have expressed interest in hearing updates about my course and move to Toronto. So I will be writing more diary-like entries in the 10 weeks that I’m away. Which is awesome because that will be easier to fit into my schedule! Classes are from 9am-6pm M-F – with two 1-hour breaks in between.
5. Travel, Travel, Travel
Since I’ll be living in a whole new city, I will obviously be exploring as much as my student budget can allow me. Therefore, travel content is imminent. I’m trying to keep the mindset of, “You don’t necessarily need money to have a good time,” but that’s kind of hard because everything I’d ever want to do involves money!
So I’ll just have to get creative and stay practical. 🙂
Dress Up, Chow Down
There you have it. These are the major changes that have happened with Dress Up, Chow Down!
The “Chow Down” portion of my brand will still be relevant in mindset. I believe in rolling up your sleeves and taking charge of your own life. Gussying up. Getting your hands dirty. Chowing down. It’s a big part of the continuous growth philosophy I encourage people to live by when they’re chasing their goals 👿
Another change you may have noticed is that I started aiming for 3 posts a week. I try to post every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Mondays will usually be reserved for style content. Lifestyle for the rest.
Let me know if you like this frequency. If not, suggest one! 🙂
(To me, “Lifestyle” encompasses everything from travel, beauty, career, and food.)
I hope you’ve been liking the content on the blog so far 🙂
I try hard to make sure that what I’m putting out is actually valuable / informative to you and not just me rambling. If there’s anything you’d like to see on the blog that I haven’t covered yet, let me know. I’ve been toying around with the idea of vlogging but haven’t brought myself to do anything about it yet!
What would you like to see from the blog? Any feedback is appreciated! Leave them in the comments.
